Drum & Bass

Drum & Bass, also known as Jungle, emerged in the late 1980s in the UK. The genre is characterised by fast breakbeats (generally between 160–180 bpm) and heavy sub-basslines. Drum & Bass began as an offshoot of the UK’s ravescene of the very early 90s, and over the first decade of its existence there were many permutations in its style, incorporating elements from different musical genres including Ragga, Hip Hop and House. Important artists include Goldie, Ronnie Size, and DJ Zinc.
